"The Greenwich Public Schools are proud to offer choice to the families of Greenwich that may wish to apply to any of the District’s four elementary magnet schools and one middle school magnet program," the school district said in a statement.
"School choice provides opportunities to attend a school with programs that may be of particular interest to a family and/or an individual student. School choice also provides the district with a means of balancing enrollment among its schools on a voluntary basis rather than by mandating school attendance area changes."
The Magnet School Application Guidelines Packet is now available on the GPS website at www.greenwichschools.org/magnetschools.
The deadline for submitting magnet school applications for the 2018-19 school year is Feb. 9.
All Greenwich Public Magnet Schools teach the same curriculum and provide the same support services as every other public elementary and middle school in Greenwich.
Here are the magnet schools and their programs:
- Hamilton Avenue School (HAS), preschool to Grade 5, reopened in 2015 as the district’s first Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) school.
